Apple makes it super simple to get rid of its U2 gift to you.

U2 is no longer the kind of band that generates controversy or inspires strong feelings one way or another. That’s Miley Cyrus territory. But Apple’s giveaway of the band’s new album, Songs of Innocence, is causing such a backlash that the company is making it as easy as possible to get rid of its gift.

U2 ya no es el tipo de banda que genera controversia o inspira fuertes sentimientos de una forma u otra. Ese es el territorio de Miley Cyrus.  Pero el regalo de Apple del nuevo álbum de la banda, Songs of Innocence, está causando tal revuelo que la compañía está haciendo todo lo posible para que sea fácil deshacerse de su regalo.

We showed you how to hide the album, which was the only way to remove it given that once you buy tracks—or they’re gifted to you—you own them forever. But Apple on Monday launched a support page with a direct link that lets you banish the existence of Songs of Innocence from your devices. That’s harsh.

Les mostrábamos cómo ocultar el álbum, que es la única forma de eliminarlo, dado que una vez que se compran canciones -o que se las regalan- usted las poseerá para siempre. Pero, el lunes, Apple lanzó una página de soporte con un link directo que permitía acabar con la existencia de Songs of Innocence de sus dispositivos. Qué duro.

“Once the album has been removed from your account, it will no longer be available for you to redownload as a previous purchase,” the support page says. “If you later decide you want the album, you will need to get it again.”

"Una vez que el álbum haya sido eliminado de su cuenta, no volverá a estar disponible para poder volver a descargarlo como una compra previa," dice la página de soporte. "Si más tarde decide que quiere el álbum, tendrá que obtenerlo de nuevo."

If you change your mind before Oct. 13, you can redownload the album for free. After that, Apple will start charging for Songs of Innocence.

Si cambia de opinión antes del trece de octubre, puede volver a descargarse el álbum de forma gratuita. Tras esa fecha, Apple empezará a cobrar por Songs of Innocence.

So why are people upset about Apple’s gift? It’s not about the album itself, but about how the company distributed it. Instead of offering it as a free download, the company went ahead and downloaded it to your devices on your behalf. Some think it feels a little sneaky—especially if you’re not a U2 fan. And especially if your phone allegedly had no storage space left prior to the gift.

Entonces, ¿por qué la gente está molesta por el regalo de Apple? No se trata del álbum en sí mismo, si no en cómo la compañía lo está distribuyendo.
